3M Peltor X5A Headband Earmuff

The 3M Peltor X5A is a headband-mounted earmuff designed for high-level hearing protection in environments with medium to high noise exposure. It delivers an SNR of 37 dB, making it the highest-attenuating model in the Peltor X series, and is tested in accordance with EN 352-1:2002.

The earmuff features a double headband design with a stainless steel wire core coated in non-conductive material, providing electrical insulation up to 1.2 kV. This di-electric property makes it suitable for applications where there is a risk of sparking or electrical charge. The wide, soft foam cushions and innovative damping pads with spacer technology ensure effective sealing and long-wearing comfort, while the large cup interior reduces heat and moisture buildup.

The cups are constructed from rigid ABS plastic with a TPU outer shell for impact and abrasion resistance. Despite the larger cup size needed for maximum attenuation, the X5A is lightweight at 351 g with balanced weight distribution for extended wear. The headband is fully adjustable with carefully designed sliding pieces, and the cushions and inserts are replaceable via hygiene kits to extend product life. The black colour coding allows quick visual identification of the protection level within the X series.
